Seasickness: Exploring Disease on Boats
Join Rowena McGowan, Curator at the Museum of Health Care, to explore some of the many ways that healthcare and water travel have intersected throughout history. Learn why so-called coffin ships were docking in Kingston and how they led to a mass grave near Kingston General Hospital. Discover the strange way that smallpox vaccine was transported before planes and refrigeration. Feeling a little seasick? Find out the Canadian connection to anti-nausea medication. These and other stories will be illustrated with objects from the Museum of Health Care’s collection.
*This event will also be live streamed! Purchase a ticket to attend and the link to the live stream will be sent to your email on the day of the event.*
